# ToTable function and table not refreshing

Hi!

I am playing withthe _ToTable_function, and I am a bit stuck.  
I have a GI listing transaction (GL Transaction listing).My formula is simple: TOTABLE(AR10#,TRUE,B10)

AR10 has a formula =GI(…GIFILTER…)

The table is created into B10 correctly.  
When I refresh the data for the GI and apply different parameters (period for example), the GI refreshes nicely, but the table is not refreshing. I tried Table Design\>\>Refresh, but nothing happened. Am I missing something, is the table meant to be refreshed when the GI result changes?

Hello. So far, I have been unable to duplicate what you describe.

In my example, I start with one set of data (just credit memos) in Velixo NX:

When I add debit memos to my filter, the GI and the table both update:

I would suggest submitting your question to the Velixo Help Desk, so that they can look at the specifics.

Mari-Liis,

Any reason you are using =TOTABLE() with the generic inquiry? The =GI() function is able to output to a data table – just reference the first cell where you want it outputted.

There were two reasons why I tried the TOTABLE function:

1. Fear of missing out. I wanted to understand how and when I should be using the TOTABLE function.
2. With a GI output as an array, users could not sort certain fields.

I have now created my table with the OutputColumn1, and it’s working fine. It took a few tries, and I kept having the same issue as with TOTABLE, where the “link” between the GI formula and the table disappears. However, it’s working now and refreshing as well.

It might be helpful if you could release “how-to” articles about the steps on how the Output column/ToTable (and why?) should be used. I think where I am going wrong is creating the output table first and then editing the GI formula.

The TOTABLE is simply provided to help you to output to table for functions that do not have built-in support for table mirroring.

Either way, I will get this to the attention of our documentation team, as improvements can be made to make this clearer and more detailed.
